Learning English effectively requires
thinking in English; the more time you spend on thinking in English the
more effective will be the understanding. Generally individuals have the
tendency to mug up things easily but there is always lack of
understanding behind this process. Learning a language is not similar to
studying for an exam where you can just learn the answers without
understanding and write them on the examination sheet. Learning a
language requires great understanding, practice and most importantly the
art of thinking in the particular language.
Thinking is the process of creating doubts or questions for you that helps to understand the language more effectively.
Example: When you start thinking in English and try to apply it in your daily routine
you get questions while you think right from the time you get up from
the bed to the time you go to sleep again. When you think about the
daily routine you would get question like what would you say when you
have to get up from the bed and call someone for a glass of water? Or
how would you call a person and tell him that you are unwell and would
like to take an off from work today. Many such instances themselves make
you learn the language more effectively.
Every new
process new in the beginning seems to come with new procedures and
explanation which becomes efficient with practice. For example- In the
beginning when a kid starts to use a watch, he at first is not so
efficient in watching the time correctly but after a few attempts when
he starts thinking and gets use to the whole process of the Minute,
Second and the Hour hand he initially starts telling the time very
slowly maybe by counting it on the fingers and proper analysis but with
time and thinking he understands it effectively and in a few days the
mind gets used to and understands quickly.
The same
instance can be compared with thinking in English initially an
individual might be very slow t thinking and translating the language
into English and then responding but with practice he gets a fair idea
of the flow of English language. Grammar becomes a rhythm for him and his words and sentences start to be more clear and precise.
There
are different types of activities to learn English efficiently but
thinking is the best as it strengthens the foundation of the language
with our most commonly used words and makes an individual an effective
speaker.
